Blueberry Green Smoothie Recipes

The combination of blueberries and greens produces deliciously healthy vitamin drinks.

Blueberries are a fabulous addition to green smoothies.  Firstly both greens and blueberries are superfoods, so you get a double whammy of antioxidants.  Secondly, the blueberries mask the taste of the greens, so you really don’t taste the greens at all.

You may have already noticed that when you combine blueberries with greens you end up with a purple looking brew.   Don’t be put off by the color of these smoothies.  In fact if you love the color purple you will love these.

Throw in other berries and you get varying shades of purple.   Adding other fruits may change the color slightly and will also sweeten your smoothie, especially if you add other berries.  Other fruits you can add are peaches, apples, oranges and bananas.

Regardless of some odd colors, all the smoothies taste absolutely delicious.  These blueberry green smoothies really are a vitamin drink in a glass.

Blueberry and Strawberry Green Smoothie

Ingredients

2 cups kale
1 c blueberries
1 c strawberries
1 frozen banana
1 c almond milk

How to Make

Place the kale into the bottom of a blender.    Top with the blueberries, strawberries, chopped banana and almond milk and process until smooth. 

Pour into 2 glasses and serve.


Blueberry, Raspberry Green Smoothie

Ingredients

1 c blueberries
1 c raspberries
1 c baby spinach leaves
½ c coconut milk

How to Make

Place the spinach leaves in the blender first.  Top with the blueberries and raspberries then pour over the coconut milk.  Secure lid and blend starting on low speed, then increase to high, until smooth and creamy.  Pour into a glass and enjoy.

Makes 2 glasses



Blueberry Banana Green Smoothie

Ingredients

1 banana
½ cup frozen blueberries
2 inches of cucumber
1 cup of almond milk
Handful of baby spinach
1 teaspoon honey

How to Make

Place the banana, blueberries, cucumber, almond milk, spinach and honey into a blender and, with the speed on low, begin to blend all the ingredients.    Turn the blender up to high and blend until smooth.


Goji Blueberry Green Smoothie

Ingredients

1 cup frozen blueberries
2 handfuls of baby spinach leaves
2 small bananas
1/3 cup dried goji berries
½ cup pomegranate juice

How to Make

Place frozen blueberries, spinach leaves, bananas, goji berries and pomegranate juice in a blender and process until smooth and creamy.

Note:  I only had small bananas, so I used two.   Start making the smoothie using only one banana, taste and add more if you want a sweeter taste.


Tip

If you are using fresh blueberries, use frozen bananas to give your smoothie a creamier consistency.
