Mangos and bananas are both used to thicken smoothies. So what do you get when you combine them in a smoothie? The thickest, creamiest smoothie ever.
I had never thought to combine both mango and bananas before, but once I did, I was delighted at the taste. You can keep it simple and just add some nut milk and vanilla or honey for sweetness. This will give you a smoothie with a light fruity flavour.
Or you can add other fruits as well. Use pineapple and coconut for a Tropicana treat, berries for a berrylicious smoothie or orange juice for a citrus tang.
Ideally one of your fruits, either the mango or banana, needs to be frozen to get that characteristic chill. If you find yourself with an abundance of bananas as I did, just peel and chop them, place into a Ziploc bag and chill in the freezer.
Then as you make your mango banana smoothie, simply remove one of the bags from the freezer and pop the contents into your blender.
Ingredients
1 frozen banana
1 mango
1 cup almond milk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
How to Make
Prepare your fruit, by peeling and chopping your banana and removing the mango fruit. Place into a blender together with the almond milk and vanilla essence. Process until the smoothie is thick and creamy. Because the combination of mango and banana produces quite a thick smoothie, you may need to add more liquid. Add the milk a quarter of a cup at a time until you have the desired consistency.
Makes 2 glasses.

1 banana
1 mango
1 cup strawberries
½ cup unsweetened orange juice
How to Make
Peel and chop your banana, de-seed and dice your mango and hull and slice the strawberries. Add to the blender along with the fresh orange juice. Then blend on high until smooth and creamy. When fluffy and creamy pour into 2 glasses and enjoy.

1 banana
2 slices of pineapple
1 cup of coconut milk
How to Make
Peel and chop the mango. Add the mango to a blender along with the banana, pineapple and coconut milk. Turn your blender onto high and process until smooth and creamy.
Makes 2 glasses.
If using canned pineapple, choose the variety canned in natural juice not syrup.
